This small flat is characteristic of many found in featureless multifamily buildings built during the 1960's and 70's. The ceiling is low, the rooms small and the windows poorly placed and sized. We removed all non-bearing walls and greatly enlarged the windows facing the Golden Gate Bridge and the Marina District. All closets and cabinets are simplified in form to become "inhabited walls" of rift-cut oak. The fireplace wrap is updated to nickel plated steel and new recessed lighting creates the appropriate nighttime drama.
