This project began as a family of four realized that they had outgrown their 1600-square-foot mid-century modern home. The one-story home had been designed by a follower of Frank Lloyd Wright in the form of a gently sweeping crescent with large overhangs and a complementary pool.
We approached this home with the respect of one architect for another, determined to add to the design in a way that amplified and strengthened the original designer’s intent. Rather than lengthen and continue the arc of the original plan, we created a rectangular addition aligned with the radius of the center-point of the arc. The addition contains the entry, powder room, and carport. The existing building has been reconfigured with a new kitchen, bathrooms, master suite and two additional bedrooms.
